Gathering at Larnaca airport for the flight to Athens. Upon arrival, we’ll head straight to the water paradise of Leivadia and the Crya Park. Free time to have lunch and enjoy the stunning landscape with ancient plane trees, small waterfalls, and watermills. We then continue to the coastal town of Itea, nestled by the Corinthian Gulf. Founded in 1830, Itea boasts a well-planned grid system with wide parallel and perpendicular streets, squares, and a seafront. The whole town faces the sea, with its main road lined with taverns and cafes. We will spend five nights relaxing, swimming, and going on excursions. Check-in at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will depart for the Archaeological Site of Delphi. A unique experience, within minutes, the landscape combined with the myths and stories of the past will captivate our hearts and memories. During the guided tour, we will see the ancient Agora, the Sacred Way, the Treasure of the Athenians, and the grand Temple of Apollo, where the oracles were delivered. We’ll also visit the Ancient Theater and the Ancient Stadium, which highlight the importance of arts and athletics in ancient life. There will be free time to visit the Archaeological Museum, home to magnificent sculptures like the Charioteer and the Sphinx. Optional lunch and return to the hotel.
After breakfast, we will visit Galaxidi, a charming town near Itea, where we will explore its mansions, the Church of St. Nicholas, the Church of Agia Paraskevi, and the solar clock. We will have free time to wander around. Continuing along the coast, we will pass by small seaside villages on one side and mountain villages with breathtaking views on the other. Our first stop will be the only inhabited island in the Corinthian Gulf, Trizonia. We’ll take a 10-minute boat ride from Chania to this small island, where cars are not allowed. Trizonia has a beautiful natural harbor, a docking spot for luxury yachts and sailboats, and several taverns specializing in seafood. After some free time, we’ll head to Nafpaktos, where we will explore the traditional center with its cobbled streets, old houses, and Venetian harbor with two picturesque towers at its entrance. Finally, we’ll visit the well-preserved castle and enjoy the view of the town and the nearby Rio-Antirio Bridge. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.
After breakfast, we will depart for the slopes of Mount Helicon to visit the Monastery of Osios Loukas, a unique Byzantine monument. UNESCO has listed it as a World Heritage Site since 1990 due to its beautiful and priceless mosaics. It is the largest and best-preserved monastery from the 11th century, consisting of two churches, one dedicated to the Virgin Mary and the other to Osios Loukas. Next, we will pass through Distomo, a village known for the massacre committed by German occupation forces on June 10, 1944, before reaching the picturesque fishing village of Antikyra. We will have free time for lunch and then return to the hotel.
After breakfast, we will depart for Arahova, the jewel of Mount Parnassus. During the winter months, it is full of life due to the ski resort. Free time to stroll around and enjoy a coffee before continuing to Agoriani, also known as Eptalofos, the diamond of Parnassus. Surrounded by lush greenery with pine trees, plane trees, walnuts, chestnuts, and cherry trees, Agoriani offers a breathtaking natural landscape. We will have free time for lunch in the central square, under the plane trees, and visit the nearby waterfalls of Eptalofos. Free time and return to the hotel.
