Gathering at Larnaca airport and flight to Athens. Arrival, pickup, and departure for the Peloponnese. We will stop at the Corinth Canal and continue to the historic Nafplio. We will visit the impressive Palamidi Fortress and take a walk in the Old Town to see the Church of Saint Spyridon, the building where the first Greek governor Ioannis Kapodistrias was assassinated, the grand Syntagma Square with its two Turkish mosques (one of which was used for the first Greek parliament sessions), and the iconic Bourtzi. Check-in at the hotel in Nafplio and free time. Overnight.
Breakfast and departure for the charming seaside village of Paralio Astros, a large part of which is built amphitheatrically on the "Nisi" hill. Free time for coffee and a stroll, then we continue to the historic Malevi Monastery dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary. Next stop will be the traditional village of Agios Petros at an altitude of 950m, where we will have free time to explore its picturesque streets and enjoy a meal at one of its taverns. Our tour continues with a visit to Tripoli, where we will stop at the central square to admire the statue of Kolokotronis. In the afternoon, return to the hotel.
Breakfast and departure to the villages of Mani, a stunning and unique landscape with distinctive architecture. First, we will see Vathia, a collection of impressive tower houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. We continue to Gerolimenas, a location tied to Mani's naval history, which was a base for Maniot pirates during the Ottoman period and later became an important fishing hub after the establishment of the Greek state. Our next stop is Areopoli, which will captivate you from the first moment. We continue to the picturesque seaside town of Gythio, known for its island-like character and beautiful neoclassical buildings on the mountainside. We will see the imposing lighthouse, the Tzanetaki Tower, and the lush island of Cranae (according to mythology, Paris and Helen sought refuge here before leaving for Troy). Free time and then we head to the southernmost town of mainland Greece, Neapolis. Check-in at the hotel and free time. Overnight.
Today is dedicated to Kythira. By boat, we will cross to the beautiful island of Kythira in about one hour. The island boasts grand castles, mountain villages, and scenic coastlines. The religious sentiment of the locals is deeply rooted, with around 350 churches, chapels, and historical monasteries. We will tour Kythira and continue to visit the most important pilgrimage site on the island, the Holy Monastery of Panagia Martidiotissa. Return to the hotel. Overnight.
Breakfast and departure for the castle-town of Monemvasia. Upon arrival, the breathtaking view of the Monemvasia rock will captivate you. Free time for a stroll in the Old Town. We will return to the port of Neapolis and take a boat to Elafonissos, a picturesque fishing island famous for its worldwide-known beaches. Free time for swimming and lunch. Return to the hotel. Overnight.
Breakfast and departure for Sparta, which is famous worldwide for its military strength, discipline, heroism, and the myth of Paris abducting Helen. Next stop is the castle-town of Mystras, which is now in ruins, although some buildings like palaces have been restored. Free time and then we depart for Athens. Arrival late in the afternoon, check-in at the hotel, and free time.
After breakfast, the day is free for you to explore. We recommend shopping in the beautiful markets of Athens and taking a walk near the Acropolis hill, where the old neighborhoods of Plaka, Psiri, and Thiseio offer good food and local charm.
Breakfast and free time. Early in the afternoon, we depart for the Athenian Riviera, an impressive coastal route along the Saronic Gulf starting from the Flisvos Marina and ending at Cape Sounion. We will pass through Glyfada, Voula, Lake Vouliagmeni, and stop at Varkiza with its beautiful beaches, offering time to enjoy fresh fish and seafood meze at the traditional tavernas. On our way to Sounion, we will pass through Lagonisi and Saronida. Free time to visit the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion, enjoy the stunning view, and take photos. We then continue to the airport for our flight to Larnaca.
