Gathering at Larnaca airport for your flight to Athens. Upon arrival, transfer and departure for the Peloponnese, where we will spend five days exploring the beauty of the Laconian land and more. Our first stop will be at the Isthmus of Corinth, followed by a visit to Panagia Malevi Monastery, a historic monastery dedicated to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Peloponnese. After some free time, we will continue on to the beautiful city of Sparta, located at the foot of the majestic Taygetus Mountains. Check-in at our hotel and free time to relax. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will visit the Byzantine city of Mystras, located just 5 km from our hotel. This medieval fortress city, built on the slopes of Mount Taygetus, is dominated by impressive walls, the Palaiologos palaces, residential houses, Byzantine churches, and a castle at the top. We will have time to explore the archaeological site with its stunning view over the fertile valley. Highlights include the Metropolitan Church, the Church of St. Demetrius, the Mystras Museum, the Pantanassa Monastery, Hagia Sophia, and the palaces. Next, we will depart for the fortified town of Monemvasia. As we approach, we will be awestruck by the unforgettable sight of the Monemvasia rock. The walk through the Old Town promises to be memorable. We will see the house of Yiannis Ritsos, the great poet from Monemvasia, the old cannon, and the Church of the Elkomenos Christ. We will also visit the historical 12th-century building that once served as a mosque and now houses a museum. A climb to the Upper Town will reward us with breathtaking views. Afterward, we will have some free time to further explore. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, we depart southward, heading to one of the most picturesque villages of Mani, Gerolimenas, which features a small natural harbor that was considered a "Sacred Port" in ancient times. The stone-built houses, combined with the surrounding rocks and the turquoise waters, create a stunning mosaic that is hard to find elsewhere. We then continue to the impressive and well-known Aeropoli. Famous for its narrow streets, Aeropoli exudes the charm of traditional Maniot architecture. We will proceed toward the scenic Limeni, where you will have free time to stroll through the narrow alleys and enjoy a coffee by the sea. Our next stop is the cosmopolitan Gytheio, a place with an island-like atmosphere that perfectly blends the mountains with the sea. You will have free time to explore and enjoy the vibrant ambiance. Afterward, we will return to our hotel
After breakfast, we depart for Kastoreio, a charming village named after the river Kastoros that flows nearby. Located on the northern side of Mount Taygetos, the village is made of stone but is beautifully colorful, with several stone fountains, arched gateways, and Byzantine churches. It rightfully claims its place in the region's travel exploration. We continue our journey to another picturesque village, Georgitsi, perched on the northeastern side of Taygetos, offering an unobstructed view all the way to Gytheio. The magic of the mountain unfolds in a unique way, and Georgitsi rightfully carries the title "The Balcony of Taygetos." You will have free time to enjoy a traditional lunch at a local tavern. In the late afternoon, we will return to Sparta. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore or relax. Overnight stay in Sparta
After breakfast, we will have time to explore Sparta, a city famous throughout history for its military strength, discipline, heroism, and the myth of Helen of Troy being abducted by Paris. Next, we will visit the Kapsia Cave in the Arcadia region. Experts have ranked it among the top 10 most remarkable caves in Greece, with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. In the afternoon, we will head to the picturesque, green town of Vitina. You’ll have the chance to stroll along the “Path of Love” and admire the beautiful traditional houses that line the streets. Late in the afternoon, we will make our way to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport to catch our return flight to Larnaca
