Gathering at Larnaca airport and flight to Thessaloniki airport. Upon arrival, transfer to the city of Serres, where we will have free time for coffee. We continue to the Bulgarian spa town of Sandanski. The waters of the springs are at a temperature of 78-81°C with therapeutic properties, known to the Romans and later to Byzantine emperors who chose it for treatment. Saints Cosmas and Damian also healed here. Arrival at the hotel early in the afternoon and check-in. The rest of the day is free. We suggest enjoying a body treatment at the hotel spa or swimming in the pool. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will have free time to complete your body treatment or walk around the central pedestrian street, where the heart of the city beats. Departure for Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Check-in at the hotel and the rest of the day free. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, the day is dedicated to Sofia. We will visit the impressive Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which holds up to 10,000 people. A temple with golden and copper domes, rumored to be the most photographed monument in Bulgaria. Next to the cathedral, we find the Byzantine church of Hagia Sophia and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, which commemorates the fallen soldiers of Bulgaria and is illuminated by an eternal flame. We will also visit the Parliament, the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov," with its six white marble columns depicting Apollo and the Muses. The rest of the day is free. We recommend a walk along Vitosha Boulevard, where you will find shopping centers with well-known store chains or enjoy a coffee in the pedestrian area. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, we depart for one of the largest and oldest Orthodox monasteries in Europe, Batschkovo Monastery (Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos), founded in 1083. Free time and then we continue to Plovdiv. A tour of the old town follows, where we will see the Kuyumdzoglou Ethnographic Museum, Lamartine's house, the Hill of the Liberators, the Clock Tower, the Imaret Mosque, the Church of St. Constantine and Helena, and finally, the Roman Theatre. Free time for shopping. Early afternoon departure for Sofia. The rest of the day is free. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Sofia and head towards the Rupel Fortress, a symbolic monument of the Greek struggle during the '40s, and one of the most significant monuments of World War II. A guided tour of the site by the local keeper will provide important historical and engineering information. Arrival in Thessaloniki early in the afternoon and check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, the day is free in Thessaloniki for shopping and sightseeing. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will have free time. Following this, we will tour Thessaloniki and visit several attractions. Later, we will visit the tomb of Saint Paisios, located within the Monastery of Saint John the Theologian in Sourotes. Return to the hotel for relaxation. In the evening, we will walk to Ladadika, where we will have an optional dinner with live music. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the Nymph of Thermaikos and head to the airport for our flight back to Larnaca, with our bags filled with beautiful memories of the enchanting places we visited.
