Gathering at Larnaca Airport to take our flight to Athens. Upon arrival, we will be met and depart for the Corinth Canal where we will make our first stop for coffee. We continue via the Rio-Antirrio Bridge to Menidi, where we will stop for lunch. Next, we will head to Arta to admire the famous Single-Arch Bridge of Arta. From there, we will ascend to the Tzoumerka mountains to visit the Plaka Bridge, the largest single-arch bridge in the Balkans. We continue to the traditional village of Pramanta, the largest village in the area, built at the foot of Mount Stroggoula. Check-in at our hotel, followed by dinner and overnight stay
After breakfast, we depart for a first introduction to the beautiful village of Pramanta and continue to the Cave of Pramanta, a stunning cave with stalactites and stalagmites. Our next stop is the historic village of Syrrako, a traditional settlement in Epirus, perched on the edge of a steep ravine at an altitude of 1,200 meters. The village is an excellent example of traditional architecture. We will take a walk and reach the village square to visit the Church of Agios Nikolaos, the patron saint of the village, and the Folklore Museum. In the afternoon, we begin a scenic drive to the picturesque village of Melissourgoi, located in the valley between the Athamanic Mountains (Tzoumerka) and the foothills of Pindus. We will explore this charming village before returning to our hotel, where we will enjoy a traditional dinner with live music and local dishes. Overnight stay at the hotel
After breakfast, departure for the Tzoumerka villages. We start from Ktsistades and head towards Agnanta. We will walk through this beautiful village to enjoy the lovely view and visit the traditional watermill. Next, we continue to the village of Kataraktis, where we will visit the Monastery of St. Catherine, built in 1730 and reconstructed from its foundations in 1827. The monastery is famous for its wooden carved iconostasis and the large icon of St. Catherine with its gilded relief covering. From a distance, we will also admire the twin waterfalls. We will then continue our journey to the city of Ioannina. Arrival, check-in at our hotel, and overnight stay
After breakfast, we will wander around the Castle of Ioannina! The Castle is primarily a work from the Ottoman period, with older Byzantine architectural phases incorporated. Within the Castle, two citadels are formed. The northeastern citadel housed the palaces of the Byzantine rulers of the city. Today, at its top, stands the Aslan Pasha Mosque (1618). The second citadel, located to the southeast, is known as Itch-Kale, meaning the inner fortress. Our next stop will be the Island of Ioannina, one of the few inhabited lake islands in Europe. The island holds a unique distinction… it has no name! It is a rocky area surrounded by pine trees, with a unique stone settlement around its natural harbor. Although small, the island is home to seven monasteries, making it the third-largest monastic community in Greece, after Mount Athos and Meteora. We will visit the Museum with the wax figures, and have some free time to explore the city. Overnight stay
After breakfast, we depart for Metsovo, where we will enjoy a coffee in this mountainous town of the Ioannina region, located at an altitude of 1,160 meters. Metsovo, with its rustic charm, is built amphitheatrically in a wooded valley beneath the Katara pass, a rugged stone massif of the Pindus mountains. The town has maintained its traditional character, proudly preserving its heritage. We bid farewell to Metsovo and continue our journey through Kalambaka towards Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, from where we will take our return flight to Larnaca, leaving with unforgettable memories of the enchanting landscapes we explored
